  1. Fantastic show. DOT and Film Vault were the funniest and best content on the ACE Network. Can’t say I’m dissapointed to hear the Wease is gone. Thank God we still have Film Vault. Love this show –Funny Dr. Dave was great and Anderson and Bryan are always great. Bryan does run over the top of Anderson a little too often. Anderson has a lot of patience! Thought I’d never hear someone say that in a million years.

  2. Something I don’t understand about all the problems at the ACE network. How the fuck is it that no one felt they could go over Donny’s head straight to the bossman? It’s not as though it’s some corporate behemoth where the owner works in another country and getting a meeting with him is next to impossible. It’s a podcast recorded in a warehouse for Christsakes. What’s with all the beauracracy?

  4. Best TFV so far. Funny Dave is just a homerun of a guest, and THANK YOU for discussing the issues of the Ace Network and your former podcasts. That was very satisfying as it was never really discussed at the time. I was a huge DoT fan and think it’s going to (if it hasn’t already) obtain a sort of cult status in the podcast world. I think of the anime show “Cowboy Bebop”, with only 26 episodes and how some of its popularity could be attributed to the “clamoring for more” factor. Listeners were definitely wanting more at the time of termination, and with a limited run of 50 some episodes, it’s the worlds first collectible podcast! 🙂

  5. BEST EPISODE EVER. I think all us DoT fans knew something had happened between Shek, Feeney, Carolla and Donnie, but no one wanted to talk about it. As an attorney, it is unimaginable to me that Carolla’s entertaiment lawyers thought anyone would sign such an incredibly one-sided contract WHEN THEY WEREN’T GETTING PAID AND DID THE SHOWS FOR FREE. In what altered universe did Carolla think he would keep any talent at ACE with such nonsense? Although no one said it, I continue to believe that DoT became bigger and more successful than Carolla’s own broadcast, and he became extremely jealous of the phenomenal fan loyalty that was building for the show. Ever hear of any Carolla fans writing songs for the podcast? Of course not. I believe that DoT fans would eagerly pay, either per show or a monthly subscription fee, to get DoT back on the air. Unfortunately, Feeney is tied up with the success of 2 Broke Girls (not nearly half as funny as DoT, by the way) and Shek has his feet firmly in the NFL corporation. I like Shek’s NFL work, but those of us familiar with both podcasts know that Adam Rank is a weak substitute for David Feeney. Shek and Feeney together made broadcasting magic. Let’s hope Shek was telling the truth about there being a reunion show somewhere down the line. I’m just glad I still have all the old DoT shows saved, because they’re still among the funniest things I’ve ever heard.

    • One (big) point against your point… Carolla fans do write songs for him (a whole slew were written for Ace on the House) and even videos (such as the animated segment where he does Bill E. Goat – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkfN63cMvK8). And you and I both know that Carolla could care less if someone else was experiencing success. Look how much he has Larry Miller on the show, and Larry’s podcast is going gangbusters. Not to mention the “no self esteem” thing. Since we all heard Carolla’s explanation of how much Donnie just wasn’t working out, I think we can safely assume that’s where the trouble came from. Otherwise, why would Dameshek still be going on Carolla’s podcast? (He was on in the past two weeks.) I don’t get the appeal of the DoT show – I listened to the first 10 episodes and couldn’t bring myself to spend any more time on it. But Dameshek brings it, no matter where he is, and I respect him for that even if his voice annoys me. 😉 And Daves of Thunder is funnier than anything that ever came out of the Department of Transportation, so they definitely win the Same Acronym Game.

Wait – this isn’t Carolla Vault!

Brynderson rules. Or rule. How does that grammar work exactly?

  8. Great Podcast, great guest. Also, finally getting the inside scoop on how DOT got canned was very interesting… I guess Donnie used the best resources of Legal Zoom to write that ACE Network contract.

  10. Thank you for explaining why the Film Vault and Dave’s of Thunder AND Spider and the Henchman are no longer on the ACE network.
DAMN you Donny for ruining 2 of my three favorite podcasts. Thank you Anderson and Bryan for keeping up TFV and I hope that Dameshek and Feeney can rekindle Dave’s of Thunder as a weekly, biweekly or monthly podcast…I miss them so much.

  12. Wow…all I can say is “Wow”. This podcast was amazing, and I’ve loved all of them to date. Dave needs to be a recurring guest for sure. So quick, surprisingly even with all things cinema related. And thank you sooo much for the clarity on DoT, I can now sleep at night. Keep the crazy train goin’ fellas!

  13. No mention of Dwayne Johnson at all? I’m surprised – even if you’re not a fan, I figure it would have come up during the wrestling discussion if nothing else.

  15. Just a small correction for Anderson. While discussing “The Iron Giant”, Anderson mentioned he thought it was based on a Japanese story, which is false. It’s actually based on “The Iron Man”, a novel written in 1968 by former British Poet Laureate Ted Hughes. While extensive research probably isn’t necessary for Flickfessions and it’s perfectly understandable to think a story about a giant robot came from Japan, I just thought I’d set the record straight. Poets like giant robots too.

  16. Just listened to your 1/20/12 episode with Shek. What a gloooorious time had by all!!!!
And I am thrilled to hear Bryan is a DoT fan, I really had no idea. The time flew by on
this episode, I think you guys did great with Dave. And finally FINALLY some g-d information
on why things went down the way they did last year. I think in the end, everything is
going to work out for them, you, and fans alike. My first film vault listening, and will not be my last.

  18. I usually like the podcast, I like the content but this episode was almost unlistenable for me. Bryan needs to stop the talk over and interrupting. I don’t know dave, haven’t heard his podcast, but did enjoy the gossip about ACE network. G.I.O podcast w/Lynette tells the Dave story, too.
Ps. Bryan, did Adam ever go to your new house to check it out? I was surprised to hear that you think Adam is your friend, hence got invited to your wedding, but a recent podcast w/Alison (don’t remember whose) she pretty much made it clear that you both are employees only.

  22. If you edited this show down to only on-topic discussion you’d end up with about 10 minutes of show. But it was great, why would we want our podcasts to be stuck to topics and time schedules? Dameshek brought up lots of interesting things, and kept up with the stuff Bryan brought up. Good show.

Oh,and I’m watching Caveman as we speak, and it’s not very good. But at least streaming bad movies isn’t as annoying as going to the video store and spending 5 bucks on a crappy movie.

  26. I’ve written this elsewhere, but I’ll write it again…
I knew that something was rotten in Acemark almost exactly one year ago when Donny and/or Sandy (probably both) removed two simple two-minute videos that I posted of Carolla and his dad without even notifying me first. Then I had two “copyright violations” against me on Youtube. No offense to Ace, but I was blown away because my channel has A list celebs on it who have seen my vids and even posted links to them on Twitter– no one complained until that point.
I have no intention of trying to make even a penny on any of my vids. Donny and Sandy had an insane/stupid vision of how they wanted to handle that network. Your description of the contracts that Donny wanted you to sign didn’t surprise me even slightly.

  31. The talk about those ACE Broadcasting contracts was wild. The legal issue with Logan is so interesting.

I could listen to Dave & Bryan talk about 80’s wrestling forever.

Aurora was, by far, the best featured artist ever.

  32. The ACE Network really dropped the ball. Could have had the best podcast network on the web with TACS, FV, and DOT. Too bad Donny and Ace didn’t split up before all these bridges were smoked, I mean, burned.
