Top 5 Comebacks

In honor of The Film Vault’s first Top 5 list in two months, Anderson and Bryan jump right into Flickfession so they can get to their Top 5 Comebacks, both with controversial #1 choices.  Anderson also gives Bryan and everyone listening a homework assignment.  Next Friday it’s our Summer 2011 Movie Recap episode.

  1. Welcome back guys. I’m not one to write comments on Podcasts but I really like you guys. Remember the story Adam Carolla always tells about his KROCK days when he wanted to be around the place and offered to drive the company van and Jimmy Kimmel told him never to be the van driver because that is what he will always be known as. Well you guys were the van drivers at the ACE network… well Bryan still is but you get my drift. It is great to see you striking out on your own.

    • BB, Love you and love the show,so glad you’re back…i had a “rich man poor man” like idea that is film vault style…it’s “most overused lines in movies”….and i’ll start it off with— Person one: “Am I clear?” Person two: “Crystal”. That line is so fucked out but turns up in several movies each year. I’m sure you and anderson can come up with many more better ones.

  2. Love the show, love the conversational dynamic. Although I can’t say I agree with every opinion, (I did not cry when Optimus Prime was shot) you guys have led me to some of the best movies. I really appreciate that. Thanks, and I’m glad to have you back.

  4. Glad to see the boys back. I thought I would try to click the reset button on my dislike for Anderson….ugh. To no avail, his smug know-nothing comments pushed him up to his previous levels of pretentiousness in no time at all. Wish I could buy an app that muted his side of the conversation. Bald Bryan is a saint for carrying this narcissistic gorilla on his shoulders.

  5. **Anderson**

You have to check out a film called Reflections of Evil directed by Damon Packard. Not a movie to be liked or disliked, It’s a movie to experienced.

Also, Bryan is a spitting image of Gaspar Noe on his imdb page.

  7. If this was the top 5 ‘cum’ backs, Robin Williams #1, there’s so much hair for it to get caught in

  8. Love the show as always but I have to argue Goldeneye. It is so trite it’s not even campy. Oh here’s the annoying american CIA guy who shows up at just the right time and doesn’t understand or respect British courtesies. Oh here’s the Russian general who’s tied up in a huge scheme. Oh here’s the hot Russian hacker chick who cracks the code. Oh the girl who kills people by squeezing her thighs gets killed when she gets squeezed between two trees *IRONY*. Just look at these scenes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhLOCz3ZCDc

  9. Drink every time Bryan says the word “bankable” on this episode. Worth the second listen.

  10. how can you talk about Mystery Men and not mention Artite Lange?!

    • During the whole Mystery Men conversation I originally thought they were talking about Mystery Team. That would have been a a good opportunity for Logan to introduce Anderson to Childish Gambino/Donald Glover’s Human Centipede lyric on his new single.

  11. Honestly when Chris Tucker showed up in the 5th Element I thought to myself this is this movie’s Jar Jar Binks. While I didn’t turn out to be completely correct I would say I was at least 40% right on.

Last week something seemed like it was off to me, this week it just seemed like the good ol’ Film Vault. Thanks guys.

  12. Apropos to Tom Hardy, Anderson needs to get a hold of The Take asap. So-so 4 part British crime drama miniseries starring Hardy. Rape and child murder. GET IT OFF!

  13. Fuck yes! I love Goldeneye. That movie was awesome and the game revolutionized first person shooters. I gotta play it right now.

I was surprised by the Tom Arnold pick when a couple years later he was starring in “Carpool” and “The Stupids”. That should automatically disqualify him.

You guys should do a top 5 actors who need to do some soul searching (and stop making shitty movies or churning them out every month). List could include Robert Deniro and pretty much any respectable actor who decides to work with 50 Cent.

    Love the show, Go ASU!

  14. Yeah-heh-heaaaaaa FILMVAULT.

Just a personal preference but I much prefer these types of “all time” top fives to your “current” top fives (fall preview, summer recap, etc).

    Make your joke.

    • I’m not sure Bobby. Sometimes the “all time” lists fall into the same 50ish movies or have a lot of overlap with other lists. The current top fives at least mean we get new takes.

  16. I just watched all three Godfather movies this week, and Scarface, and I was surprised how different Pacino’s voice was in the first two Godfathers from how his trademark voice sounded later. Also, he looked a lot like Dustin Hoffman when he was young.

  17. “I Am Comic” was okay. I’m a big fan of stand-up and most of the comedians that appear in this, but it didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know simply by being a comedy fan.

  18. There are few podcasts that have the ability to shape and change the world. Podcast that meteorically deepen the very fabric of humanity. These singular entities are rare and tragically are gone all to soon.

    but sometimes they come back……..

  21. Great show guys. Bryan’s #1 I totally agree with. Also, I didn’t think I’d hear about Human Centipede during this show, but there it is. I haven’t seen True Lies in many, many years and completely forgot about Tom Arnold. I threw it in the Fuckflix queue to check his performance out. Keep up the great podcast!

A warning about the After Disaster….it’s good enough that you might drop your other podcasts

  26. Anderson’s story about the couple banging in the movie theatre is awesome. Those who don’t listen to the After Disaster should do so. Bryan was even on last week, so Film Vault fans should give it a listen.
