Just finally got around to listening to this show. The part where Bryan pulls victory from defeat on the bet (around the 1 hour 12 minute mark) almost made me choke on my drink. A big laugh at the expense of Anderson (sorry Anderson).

(OK its a Spanish film…but it has Max Von Sydow at his best) I wont mention them for fear of spoiling this great movie that I hope all will eventually see. One scene involves an insect that helps determine the winner, another speeding cars and my personal favorite: motionless trees in the forest. A truly unique film that takes gambling luck to another level entirely.

Also, Anderson is 100% correct about the old man in “No Country for Old Men.” They’re just fairly naive old Southern gentlemen who walk into brutal deaths because they aren’t accustomed to the ways of psychos- it’s the basis of the whole movie. Tommy Lee Jones basically spells out everything with the other old man in the restaurant scene.
Bryan said that it’s a matter of debate. Actually, it’s almost inarguable.
I lived in the South during the ’80s, and I saw those dinosaurs before they went extinct. I got somewhat misty-eyed when I saw them again on the big screen. There aren’t any Southern gentlemen anymore.
This “naive” and “gentlemen” description isn’t to say that they were all innocent or anything– many of them were the last members of an ultra-oppressive generation.
……Now are YOU getting misty-eyed, Bryan?

Logan’s chick banter was really funny, too. The lists and flickfessions were quality. Nice to see the energy back. However, I have to totally disagree about Tin Cup. I know it is a formulaic, very mainstream movie that likely shares fans with 2 and a half men, but it is very easy to watch and entertaining. It is one of those movies that that great to put on if you’re doing some other stuff and want some background entertainment. It is every bit as good as The Hammer (which I enjoy in the same way) that I’ve heard Bryan praise before. Also, how did Bryan pick an unconventional gambling scene from Tin Cup and not pick the 7-iron bet? It was an awesome scene, way better than the long drive bet scene and from the same movie! Keep up the great work
