Though I must say I don’t quite approve of a review without seeing the whole film. Especially for this film, in which the end is so crucial to the film and changes the meaning of much of what you’ve seen before. I am really curious if once Anderson sees the whole film if he’ll love it more or less. He can be tough to get a read on sometimes.

Its perfect because it has enough power and i don’t have a car stereo… Probably could have gotten one with that 200$ price tag. But my car stereo cant fit in my back pocket. Also, when it comes to people talking in the movie theatre, my boyfriend has turned around to people talking incessantly during a movie and asked them to keep it down. Usually they apologize and listen. One time, said people got up and left the movie, thus making the movie experience better for us. I still take that as a victory.
Last thing, your spoilers are awesome. Keep it up!

As for spoilers, another podcast did a separate, short, spoiler episode because they really wanted to get into The Dark Knight Rises. It worked really well.

Its rude when you do it to Anderson, but your egomania is really glaring when you trample all over your guest. I also have cancer. For the first six months after my diagnosis I used it as an excuse to be a total asshole to my family, friends and girlfriend, and I almost lost my relationships with everyone that mattered to me because of it. Stop using the chemo joke, its not funny, and start being a little be less of a Narcissist. i really like this show, and your and Anderson’s opinions, but its becoming increasingly frustrating and really ruining the listening experience to have you constantly cutting off everyone’s points.

1) Re talking in theaters. I’ve asked people to be silent a couple times. Sometimes you have to if they can’t manage to shut their traps after a long time. Two weeks ago during Skyfall two teenagers were talking loudly throughout the first 35 minutes. I kept telling myself they would stop eventually, but they never did. I went back and forth about saying something to them. Finally, I decided to do it. I meant to say something like “Could you shut up?” …. instead I yelled “Shut The Fuck Up, YOU’VE BEEN TALKING THROUGH THE WHOLE FUCKING MOVIE” I shouted. I didn’t mean to, but I did. I think I shamed them, because they looked at me like they were very embarressed and didn’t say anything else. Part of me wishes I had more self control, but I was just so mad because I had been looking forward to the movie.
2) The music during the amazon segment: I liked it.
3) Spoilers: in my opinion most people complaining about spoilers need to get over themselves. They were talking about it a week later, and other times its been years after the movie came out. If seeing Skyfall was THAT important to you totally unspoiled perhaps you should have seen it already. Or perhaps you should have not listened to the episode until later, or stopped it and fast forwarded a few minutes. The movie had been out for a month around the world and numerous reviews of the movie talked about the same things Bryan and Anderson did. Its the same with cry babies who don’t want to be spoiled by sports results. If you can’t watch the game live, don’t cry when listening to sports radio spoils it for you. Geez.

I would love to here more insight on Anderson’s perspective on his film critiques…. meaning, when he says that he loved the direction (directors effort) I want to know what that really means to him. Brain can sit back and relish in his fancy free pleasure land of stout beers and promiscuous sentimentalism. Poor poor Logan. He has access to the mic but gets shut down immediately…uncool bros! Let the Fijian have his air. Smart move keeping him behind the glass since a trading places motif would certainly allow Brain access to the 360 machine…and we ALL know that can be hilarious and troubling at the same time.
Final thought… yes, Brain, I do love the dot dot dot… Brain deserves his credit, albeit short. His cinema pardiso is non existent and while he does love film, the “best of” is lacking. Albeit (second time this post) his pleasure of file to the point of media is that it be enjoyed. While movies hold a certain pretentious behavior among the steadfast cinefile, Let us not forget that it is what movies provide to the individual and not the masses that make great film making a true art..

In all honesty, I don’t care much about spoilers either and think that if a movie is really good knowing the resolution going in won’t always ruin the experience. Moreover, Bryan’s right; in some instances I want to see a movie based on a thorough recommendation that simply can’t be given with many films unless someone at least hints at the ending. As a younger guy who is doing his best to go back and see all the classics, there are very few of them that aren’t so-called “ruined” anyway by constant references to them in pop culture (your somewhat recent mention of the ending to Chinatown would be a perfect example of a film whose ending is known by pretty much everyone going in). Sometimes those things are unavoidable. This being said, cutting down on spoilers couldn’t hurt if it isn’t necessary.
What I propose is that you guys have Logan do a little creative editing, and post two versions of each episode. One would be an abbreviated, spoiler-free episode, the other would be submitted as recorded. Those who whine about the spoilers could be satisfied by the slightly cut edition, those who aren’t bothered could listen without all the discussion of whether or not to provide spoilers. In the end, not only would both sides be satisfied, but the episodes in general would run more smoothly, and with very little actual effort (if my assumptions about podcast posting are correct, anyway). It’s a win-win-win situation.
Thanks in advance for considering it– I love the show, and base more of what I watch on you guys’ recommendations than on any other podcast’s.

I certainly didn’t mean to say that spoilers are okay, or even okay to most people, but my previous post seemed to say as much so you’re right that’s pretty idiotic. This being said, my main point was about keeping the show moving steadily, and since Bryan seems to question the validity of complaints about spoilers (at least to some degree), instead of trying to eliminate them entirely I’m just trying to brainstorm alternatives. I won’t shy away from my statement that Bryan is right to some degree, and that I’m interested in hearing about these guys’ full opinions of films because I like their show; if they feel hindered (or at least one of them) by some inability to speak about the endings then I would like for them to speak freely against that hold-up. But of course not wanting to hear anything about a movie’s plot is TOTALLY valid, if not quite a bit more valid than my point. That’s why I want the two versions.

If Logan can go into the podcast and add a little ding every time a movie title is mentioned like before, then throwing down a quick edit would not be hard. He could just make a note each time Bryan says spoiler alert or whatever code they decide to use, and jump to those portions. It isn’t as though every time a movie is mentioned they will discuss the ending, just when they feel it’s appropriate, as they do now (AKA once, maybe twice each episode). And confusing for the listeners? I’m not even sure how that could be so. They could label them differently. Those of us who aren’t children would not have difficulty identifying one from another, and if confusion remains, then I’m sorry but some people might get stuck with the wrong one, otherwise known as the one they’re practically already listening to. Further disagreements with my idea are useless unless other, better ideas are attached. As tempting as it may be to simply cry out, “BRYAN SHOULD JUST STOP GIVING SPOILERS,” the fact of the matter is that he won’t, and nor will any podcast that discusses films in a comedic fashion. Sometimes spoilers pop up, sometimes they’re all but necessary, and sometimes Bryan submits them on purpose in a silly way. If anyone has a substantial idea for how to solve this problem I’m all ears. If anyone wants to bring up ludicrous complaints that don’t move us any closer to figuring it all out, then there’s no conceivable reason to say anything at all. Seriously, only agreement that would get the attention of Logan, Bryan, or Anderson, or new, better ideas are all that even make sense at all to post. I’m assuming that because you guys come onto the message boards you either care a lot about the show or are lousy trolls. If you put forth nonsensical insults or complaints that assume Logan and the listeners are completely inept, then this is just boring. If you’re concerned about having movies spoiled for you, then come up with something good.

As for confusing for listeners. Imagine coming in for the first time, subscribing to the podcast either through iTunes or RSS and having two versions of the podcast show up every week. There are many apps, Google Listen for one, that only download the most recent episode that means it is still extra work for the listener too determine what version they want and to download the edited or non-edited version.
Nonsensical insults or complaints? I’m not seeing any of those. You are projecting something else on to me as I don’t give a damn about spoilers and have never said that I did. I come here because I enjoy the show and only commented because your suggestion wasn’t practical and would make it more difficult for me to continue to follow the show if implemented.

Much of the last 20 minutes dealing with their exit was made up. A simple google search would confirm any suspicions one had about the suspenseful ending.

Regarding the ending of Argo, this was not a documentary. It is a major studio film based on true events. The writers wrote a fantastic, suspenseful script, and the ending fulfilled the anxiety of the first 1.5 hours.
You reveal too much with your “sappy reunion” complaint, though. That happened. In real life.

He even said the ending could make him not like it depending on what happens. So whats with the “blow job” comment? And whats with the “drop the act” for him referring to his wife?That and your Argo response just seemed very angry to me. Anderson said it wasn’t a documentary. He didn’t discuss the ending in detail, probably because he has a history of not wanting to discuss ending especially with movies that are relatively new. But he said he didn’t like the ending and you and Tom basically saying he was putting on a front. Whats the big deal. He said he liked the movie, but indicated the ending was contrived. And it WAS contrived. Of course its not a documentary, and I think he said something like that too. But there’s nothing wrong with saying the ending felt contrived, especially when it was heavily contrived.
Not sure how I “reveal too much” by mentioning the sappy reunion. Of course there was a reunion with these people and their friends/family/coworkers. Of course. But a director makes choices. A reunion scene could be simple, low key, shown from a distance with people simply hugging. Or it could be full of close ups, crying, swelling music. I’m perfectly fine with how the movie ended. All he said was there were parts of it he didn’t care for. And its fine if you disagree with him too, I don’t care. There’s plenty of things they say that I disagree with. I just thought your reaction was overly strong.
