  2. I also don’t get the “phony” racism. Can someone explain how it’s supposed to be funny?

  3. Still can’t get over Bryan not knowing any black british actors (Idris Elba) and Anderson not calling him out on it. Not to mention he needed to be reminded what Zero Dark Thirty and Killing Them Softlty was on multiple occasions.

  4. I let out a groan on the bus to work and nearly yanked out my ebuds when I realized this week’s topic. Robots, suggested by Anderson? My god, man, what unhinged you? But the ensuing calamity was priceless, especially as Bryan could not escape his own skewed universe where robots that turn into cars are the dramatic equal to any of the great Shakespearean characters. A pile of trash running around, polished to a gleam with owing lights and wheels is amazing, but still trash. It felt like Bryan was ED 209 goaded into the boardroom, and he coulndn’t stop himself until he was out of bullets, er, bullets that transform into big words? Love you guys, loved the show, and to the gal next to me bus, I am sorry the guy next to you on the bus kept laughing out loud during your commute.
No Metropolis or Westworld? I am sending a T1000 back in time to stop his podcast from ever happening…

  5. Honestly, at your guys’ age I would have expected one of you to have D.A.R.Y.L. from 1985. Instead we get the Rocky robot who has like 2 scenes. WEAK. D.A.R.Y.L.

  10. STOP THE MUSIC! Seriously, the background music during the Amazon read is driving me crazy. I can’t hear Bryan talk. As the tempo builds my anxiety increases. Please.

  11. I agree with you Anderson about Love Actually. How about 5 Best Holiday films – as in any holiday, but throw in at least one X-mas/Hanukkah themed movie for good measure. By the way Bryan – thanks for playing the straight guy to Andersons’ antics.

  12. Anderson spends more time complaining about how much Bryan talks about Transformers than Bryan spends talking about Transformers…

    • That is true. Anderson is usually the first to bring it up.

    • Completely agree. The podcast was brought down everytime anderson bitched about Transformers. And then picks back up when he talks about his number 1. Anderson, that’s what we want to hear. The listeners want to here what you are passionate about and love, not 20 minutes about what pisses you off. You keep promising good podcasts, but you can make the current podcast better by controlling your frustration and keeping your mouth shut when bryan brings up transformers.

  13. My comment actually involves that I think it was very wrong of Anderson to say tht all Bi-Polar people are awful terrible people. I love Anderson but I strongly disagree with that statement and even find it hurtful. I don’t care if anyone here laughs at me for saying that. It’s just how I feel Also please get rid of Bald Bryan. Call the show Andersons Film Vault with 5 minutes of family fun and child freindly films with Bald Bryan.

    • So, in the minds of all of these people who have come out of the woodwork attacking Bryan, what would you want the show to be in an ideal world? An hour of Anderson, sitting in a studio by himself, ranting wildly about the relative merits of Stanley Kubrick and Gaspar Noe films? Yeah, that sounds awesome.

I, for one, genuinely enjoy the differing approaches of Anderson and Bryan with respect to making their lists. I think that some people mistake Bryan’s attempts to add a little levity to the show for some sort of wrong-headed incompetence or lack of genuine interest. I don’t think that’s correct. Anderson is so god-damned breathlessly serious about films all the time (which, don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy, but it needs a little counter-balance). If that’s the only sort of thing you want to hear, I recommend that you go enroll in a Film Theory class at your local Community College.

Having said all of that, it is true, those Transformers movies really were quite awful.

      • No I genuinely detest his smug attitude. Believe me Bryan is a guy I want to like. He’s his own biggest enemy. Did I say I always agree with Anderson. Bryans smugness turns me off. I really do want to like him but I just can’t. Never said I was an expert either. I like levity too. Bryan just isn’t adventerous enough either. I like a shit load of bad movies.
        I’ve never sen Transformers.

  14. Fellow listeners, if possible, play the show slowed down. I laughed so hard. The way they speak is like their really drunk. Anderson’s voice is just perfect for it. LoL. Anyway, I liked the show.

  15. Wasn’t real excited about this topic, but it ended up being a hilarious episode. I was cracking up throughout. “That’s life in the big city!”, great one Logan.

War Games – the name of the W.O.P.R. is Joshua. Love that show.

  16. Anderson and Bryan are far more entertaining together than either one of them would be apart, or paired with someone more similar to either of them. I thought this was obvious, but apparently not.

    • Agreed. I don’t understand why anybody would want to drop this pod. For me, far and away, it’s one of the best ones out there. There are tons of awful film pods, this one is fun and interesting.

But Bryan, good lord man, not seen Dr. Strangelove? For the love of christ get to it.

  18. I love Bryan. Love Anderson too. I like Transformers too, but I do agree that it was wrong of him to put TWO of them on the list. One would have stood in for the whole lot. And for those of you acting like Transformers is some kind of travesty on the film industry… really? Get over yourselves. Seriously. For instance, Johnny #5… I love him. LOVE him, and Short Circuit is a fun movie… but its not a good movie. And for some of you to act like Transformers is some kind of insult, get over it. Robocop was also on Anderson’s list. Again, I love that movie too…. but it aint exactly fucking Shakespeare. Get over yourselves with the Transformers hate, ya’ll sound like people who are just trying to imitate other haters.

Anyway, I fully support Anderson placing Johnny #5 and ED209 on the list. Love those two. I also thought it was hilarious that Bryan moved Bumblebee (Transformers) from his 5th spot to his 3rd spot…. so that he could move A.I. down to number 5 and annoy Anderson. Wow, that was funny.

I also kind think the robot from Rocky 4 being on the list was funny, because it was funny in the movie. But Bryan… if you’re reading, I don’t think the implication was that he reprogrammed the robot. I think it was this: the robot was supposed to be a service droid, it wanted to clean up after Paulie, make him food, serve him things. And thats what Paulie has been looking for his entire life, someone to serve him. So its not that he reprogrammed the droid, he just decided he liked it after he realized all it was going to do was clean up after him.

    • Apollo Creed’s reaction to seeing that robot for the first time is absolutely priceless. In retrospect, I’m pretty confident that that was the inciting incident that threw him off his game and thus led directly to his doom at the hands of Ivan Drago shortly thereafter. It was simply too much for him to take.

    • I nearly choked on laughter when I heard Scum. My wife and I watched Scum years ago when Netflix recommended it. We watched the whole movie bored and disturbed. It was by far the worst movie that we had watched for awhile and since. It has been the punchline to our jokes since. I am waiting for the sequel Scum 2: Scumpocalypse.

  20. Brilliant move by Anderson to further his campaign to get Bryan off the show. Truly a stroke of genius. Make it so that Bryan can’t help himself and watch the haters come a runnin. I proudly join the bandwagon and I do so for the following reasons.

Top 5 Grievances with Bryan’s Performance:

    5) Unicron
    4) That robot from Rocky 4
    3) He hasn’t seen Dr. Strangelove
    2) The quote “A Boy and His Car”
    1) Isaac Abrahamov…? Are you kidding me, you can name Fisher Stevens at the drop of a hat but flub Isaac’s good name?

This post proudly paid for by the Logan-For-Host 2013 campaign.

  21. It’s true what folks say about Bryan, who is the whole reason I found this podcast at all. I honestly think Bryan sees the podcast as a forum to talk about the movies he loves – all ten of them – instead of a podcast for folks to listen to about movies. The fact that a FILM MAJOR has never seen most Woody Allen, or Dr. Strangelove, etc., and instead thinks that Just Friends is a great movie is insane.

    Like, literally insane.

I still listen, because Anderson does great work as does Logan, but wow Bryan has become the anchor (in a bad way) of the show and I think he thinks his schtick is funny…it’s not. I’m hugely happy that he is doing well physically but time to pick up his side of this show and actually reach for some suprises, not just the same ten movies over and over again.

    • He never said Just Friends is a truly great movie. God, get over yourself. And Bryan’s stuff is funny. Just like some people don’t think Anderson sometimes appearing to only like violent movies. Its not true, but thats what some say.

Also… doesn’t Anderson talk about the same movies over and over? I’ve heard him talk about A Clockwork Orange at least 500 times. I would challenge you, or anyone else, who thinks they can do better to do their own show… I bet you end up talking about a lot of your favorite’s over and over again too.

  22. Bryan is fucking insufferable. I really like listening to Anderson(even though I often disagree with him) talk but I don’t think I can listen to any more of Bryan. May have to drop this podcast. Shame too since there are so few good film podscasts.

    • Why is Bryan insufferable? Pretty strong language. I mean look, I like the Transformers movies too, seriously, I do. But I disagree with Bryan putting 2 on his list. That to me is just not right. Having one on there should have stood in for all of them. But to call him insufferable? C’mon.

  23. Bryan needs to learn his place. He’s becoming more and more insufferable every episode, like he has the whole thing written out beforehand and any time Anderson speaks it’s an intrusion on his personal forum. I was elated to (upon continuing the episode later) find out Anderson got up and left when Bryan brought up Vanilla Sky last week–I immediately stopped listening when he did so. Do what you’re here to do–talking movies, not trying to be a terrible Carolla impersonator, overusing big words you don’t understand, and testing out your blowhardy “comedy journalism” hack routine. This was once a great show, but the hosts have no chemistry anymore.

  24. Totally agree with Anderson on this one:

I *cough* legally *cough* downloaded Transformers and when the “traipsing around the garden” scene started I got so angry I stopped the film.

They aren’t stupid! Why would they be doing Three Stooges on the lawn when told to be quiet!

  26. Hey Bryan-samesies! I saw Brave on tuesday, and just saw Life of Pi last night as well.
I gotta say, I was a bit disappointed by ‘Pi’. This is probably because i have read and loved the book. Like most book-to-movie conversions, I couldn’t help but think of all the great scenes that were left out/added of the movie. (Like when Pi tries to eat Tiger Poo, or how he caught sea turtles and drank their blood, more meerkats)/(The glowing fish and whale scene)
The 3D was only good in the opening title sequence that had the slow pans in the Zoo. (similar to the Avatar scene where they first enter the Jungle) The rest of the time, the 3D did nothing for me, and during some of the storm scenes made it worse.
