  4. Great episode, Anderson was not nearly as negative and dismissive as usual. He sounded really high or just tired, whatever it was keep it up.

  6. Argo was a good movie. I agree exactly with Bryan’s take. Best movie I saw this year (haven’t seen Zero Dark Thirty, Silver Linings, Lincoln yet though)

  7. I’m so glad that Anderson included Ronnie from Role Models on his list. “Suck it Reindeer Games” and “You white, then you Ben Affleck!” are two lines I reference probably more than any grown adult should.

  8. Yeah, the freaks example was just last week, but I remember that as well. I’d like to clarify that I like the show in general, and my post is very very negative. It’s just been grating on me more lately for some reason.

  9. Add me to the list of listeners who ride their bikes and listen to TFV. Luckily I never pay attention to Bryan and never get anything spoiled.

    • I’m sure he’s a decent dude. However, I listen despite of Bryan. His number of annoying traits need to be listed, if only for the sake of my own sanity and to see if it annoys anyone else.

      1. His well documented habit of spoiling movies (No need to ever watch China Town now)
      2. His interrupts Anderson all the time
      3. His faux racism (which I actually suspect is thinly veiled real racism) played off as comedy.
      4. He finds the word “Retard” “Retarded” hilarious and loves when Anderson quotes the word (also loves quoting the N word, ties in with #3) You’d think a dude with Brain cancer would be more empathetic to individuals with neurological issues that are out of their hands.
      5. His claim that you don’t hear of British black actors (Only the best black actor working today, IMO, Idris Elba)
      6. He’s personality displayed in the audio of Anderson’s bachelor party as he was overly vocal in a room of people he’d just met, plus his assertion that his joke was the best of the night.
      7. His overall lack of knowledge in movies that Anderson brings up past, current, or upcoming. (Freaks, Killing Them Softly)
      8. His reviews usually regress into him reading off the actors names in IMDB style, or his listing of names almost definitely is longer than his actual analysis

That’s all I can think of right now. If you think I’m being a hater or nitpicky then let me know. Also, maybe the show wouldn’t be as good with two “Cinefile’s” instead of one cinefile and one average dude.

      • Anderson avoids this board because he thinks that people just talk trash about him.
I wonder if he knows that the negative comments have gone almost totally 180 now.
He might love to read this thing if he knew that 90% of them are now directed at Bryan.

      • I sadly didn’t die in my sleep last night sorry to disappoint you. It was heavily negative, but, it’s my opinion and I doubt I’m alone. I won’t be “bashing” Bryan weekly on here.

      • You really ought to watch Chinatown anyway.

Also, lighten up, for Christ’s sake. This list of “negative traits” is absurdly small-minded and nitpicky. I mean, you fault him for failing to specifically name-check Idris Elba? And this is an outstanding example of how “annoying” Bryan is? Wow. Just, wow.

      • So as I said this is my opinion and no one has refuted anything I brought up. I acknowledged myself that some are nitpicky choices. It’s not like I made any of these up, they were legitimate annoyances.

      • I guess there is just some difference of opinion here as to what constitutes a “legitimate annoyance.”

      • Honestly, I think it’s fair to say that if a movie is 20+ years old I don’t think it can be considered ‘spoilable’. Much like “The Godfather” or “Apocalyppse Now”, regardless of whether someone “spoils” the ending, they are movies that should be watched anyway just to see what all the fuss is about. It doesn’t bother me a bit if they inadvertantly give something out because if they really like it, I may check it out anyway.

  10. The E.T. kid is the first guy I thought about when I read this topic.
All of the Stand By Me kids were great– especially River.
    Great calls, gentlemen.

But you missed one– he wasn’t even on the viewers’ list: Christopher Serrone from Goodfellas. That kid was just slightly older than I when I watched that film in a theater (my FIRST R rated movie in a theater). He DREW ME INTO that film at the start.
He is also just trying to get back into acting.

    • I think Leonardo was 16 or 17 at the time both movies were shot, so he officially was not an adult, both films were done prior to his puberty, he had a late adolescence. He is a six foot tall man now, and was probably 5’6″ pre-pubescent boy when those films were made.

  12. I have an idea for a show, “Top 5 GOOD movies that fizzled at the box office”.
    My list would include:

    1. Dredd (2012)
    2. Ravenous (1999)
    3. Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2006)
    4. Crank (2006)
    5. Mystery Men (1999)

Yeah, I know 3 of them are comic book related but you have to admit, it’s hard trying to mainstream niche market films.

  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SU7NGJw0kR8 I challenge you to not to emotional while watching this. It’s Anderson’s #2: Ricky Schroder in “The Champ” 1979

    • Schroder was great even in his small role in “Crimson Tide” as an adult. In fact, when I watched that movie for the first time last year I thought that he was so good that I asked people why he never made the jump into stardom (it’s from the ’90s). People are claiming that it’s deliberate– he doesn’t want the sort of fame and attention that he had when he was on Silver Spoons.

  17. I LOVE when Anderson references great television. First, television, at its best is telling stories – at least – as good as films. Second, Bryan gets so mad. He says its because its not tv vault, but its really because he doesn’t watch and is left out. More TV mentions Anderson – that’ll be great! And HOW DARE YOU say As Good As It Gets is a weak movie. That movie is fantastic on so many levels. I’d entertain an argument that it isn’t “great” but saying weak makes me wonder if you’ve actually viewed it? Love the show as usual. Keep it up, fellas.
