Movie Pet Peeve:
In bed, after sex, the woman or man getting up and using a sheet to cover themselves. Come on! You just F**CKED and you’re covering your chest when you sit up? Or they pull the sheet off the bed and take it with them – WTF, who does that??

Mike Carano’s list (especially his #1) was spot. on. I despise CGI and was so glad somebody else said that. Good Job, Guys!

My peeve with CGI is more specific. I hate when CGI is used to move the “camera” in impossible ways. For example, in Avatar CGI is used to show the alien world with its alien inhabitants and creatures. So far, no problem. However, when the camera’s point of view starts swooping down between and around the flying creatures, that’s when the CGI becomes too much. It’s too obvious that we’re not watching what a camera recorded.

Holy balls I’m about to drop a bomb on you guys. We all know that Bryan has an 8″ rager for Michael Biehn and Anderson hates anything related to Nebraska.
Guess where Biehn grew up? Lincoln fucking Nebraska. Lincoln’s a bacon wrapped shrimp of Nebraska except the bacon is Nebraska and the god damn shrimp is Nebraska too.
Answer for your sins, Anderson.

Bryan might just quit and refuse to ever speak to or ackowledge Andersons exsistence again. 😉

Love the show guys! It’s holding up well to repeated listenings as I catalog the Netflix Instant Top 5s from Anderson and selected guests. Sorry Bryan! It’s already up to 350+ titles that need to be tracked.
I must say, it took a good set of balls on both to broadcast the ‘Reel Beat: Part One’ episode from 31-Dec-2010. This being the very first incarnation to The Film Vault as we know it. Anderson gives full credit to Bryan for starting up and keeping with the format to create what we have today.
Anderson and Bryan both sound so different. Especially Bryan.
That a show was created from these inauspicious beginnings says a lot. Thanks for sticking it out and producing such an entertaining podcast. Apparently ‘Reel Beat’ was created before the word podcast was coined. This episode has audio annotations from both AC and BB. Very entertaining!

#1 pet peeve is when they have a character make a racial slur, then immediately kill the character off (e.g. Falling Down, Super, many others). It’s such a transparent manipulation of the audience. *Racial slur*, BOOOO!, *character dies*, YAAAAY! The movie is too afraid to kill anyone off without saying “see, he’s a bad guy.”

Top 5 worst list concepts:
— 2010-07-22 – Most Overrated Films (Guest: Mike Catherwood)
— 2010-09-03 – Most Disappointing Films
— 2012-01-13 – Good Movies You Never Want To See Again
— 2013-01-04 – Monologues
— 2013-01-25 – Movies With One-Word Titles
The 1st three are no brainers. Why have a podcast that recommends what not to watch? 95% plus of what’s out there is not worth watching.
Monologues brings out the worst in Bryan … this was the shortest episode for me to listen to since I fast forwarded through all of his recordings, which felt like they were 5-10 minutes long and his discussions. Monologues include spoilers. I believe it’s possible to have a movie review show without any spoilers.
The last was so open ended that the person that came up with this one was not thinking at all.
Otherwise I look forward to each week’s show and listen to it Friday morning at the office.

Come on, these guys give you hundreds of hours of COMPLETELY FREE entertainment and put out a show EVERY SINGLE WEEK. If they don’t have the best topics all the time I think they can be forgiven and you ranking their worst previous shows is not beneficial for anyone seeing as how they already happened. I don’t think any of us are in any position to harshly criticize them considering how we don’t pay a dime for this show.

Just to clarify. I love the show even when it’s a poorly chosen topic like the one I’m relistening to now ‘2010-10-28: Movies You’re Ashamed to Admit You Haven’t Seen’ but I like lists of movies and I like lists of good movies. I think some would agree with me on this.

So I love the whole pill pet peeve, but I have an amendment to that. I feel like we don’t see the chewing of the pills as often as we see characters just swallow a bunch of pills with absolutely no water. I feel like 9 out of 10 times in a movie people straight up swallow pills, and that is such bullshit. So unrealistic. Everyone has to look so damn dramatic when they do it too. And it is always the same move…take the pill and then jerk your head back as hard as humanly possible when you swallow! I think most people need a glass of water or the pills get stuck in their throat. Embarrassing, but I actually get really excited when someone uses water to swallow pills in a movie, cuz it is so rare to see.

Bryan-You’re so butthurt that people don’t like frats! That was hilarious.
Not sure that there needed to be a second part for this topic. Especially for Carano. I’m sure he would rather talk about movies he likes, not annoying people.
I listen to the FV to get movie recommendations, so episodes like this aren’t particularly helpful.

Anderson, that was almost a glowing endorsement of Man of Steel, you found positive things to say about it, despite openly saying you wanted to hate it.
However, please tell me you went to see it somewhere other than your rear view mirror.
And for the love of god, if you’re gonna complain about the effects of a movie that you’re only half watching, being disturbed by people during, and the picture is messed up by headlights… perhaps hold your tongue.

PLEASE Bryan, tell us about how fraternities are so maligned … next you will tell us that white men have it tough in this world, and that straight people are being marginalized because of the recent Supreme Court rulings.
I kid, it was under the guise of “it’s lazy!” — but it was far from convincing.
Please don’t let there be a Part 3. Though if there is, be sure to invite back Mike Carano and then forget that he’s been part of both prior episodes!

Top 5 Pet Peeves from The Film Vault:
#5 Shows that don’t mention specific films for each position i.e. ‘SNL Alumni’ or ‘Pet Peeves 1.0 and 2.0’.
#4 Having to hear the same announcement for bands every week i.e. ‘… Ricky Nelson, he’s signed.’
#3 When Bald Bryan forgets something that happens on a previous episode i.e. Bryan completely forgetting that Mike Carano did the first incarnation of Pet Peeves.
#2 Bryan’s forced use of the f*** word. When Anderson curses it feels organic. When Bryan does it it seems like he just learned to curse yesterday.
#1 When Bryan says ‘That’s not a spoiler, it happens at the beginning of the film.’ Bryan, **anything** that happens AFTER pressing play or purchasing the ticket IS A SPOILER!

um…. your #1 is completely stupid. By that reasoning it would be essentially impossible to talk about movies.

Exactly! Movie review shows are inherently difficult but it doesn’t change the fact that something that happens at the beginning of a film is NOT LESS of a spoiler than something that happens later on. This is a completely stupid premise that gets repeated all the time by Bryan. Hence it is number 1!!!

#1 Pet Peeve: When Anderson and Bryan read the list of things people bought on Amazon. I don’t understand who could possibly like that besides Bryan. I put it #1 on my list of “Top 5 Shittiest Bits during Otherwise Awesome Podcasts”. Please take this as constructive criticism and not me being a dick. Eliminating the Amazon bit would take this from an 8 to a 10. Thank you from myself and all your fans for the hours of free entertainment you provide.

When I hear the Peer Gynt Suite under Bald Bryan’s reading of the Amazon click throughs this is guaranteed to bring out a smile everytime. My vote is keep this “bit” of enjoyment. Now, when the Amazon reads were done without the musical beds this was a bit of a chore to get through and when this first started Bryan read both the products and the movies. It was good they kept that incarnation for a very short time. It was good seeing the evolution.
