Why some of you fuckers even listen is beyond me.
I don’t always agree with things, sometimes I say, but all in all if I ever do have complaints they’re tiny compared to the general GOOD TIME LISTENING that this show & it’s fine hosts (and yes, I am a huge Anderson fan) ALWAYS offer up.
Add to the discussion, but stop bitching and whining in what is most of the time in very obvious frustration that it’s not YOU hosting the show.

Ted was just crass and uninspiring, and that’s coming from a simpleton who loves fart jokes and Adam sandler movies…

Posted by John | October 8, 2013, 11:07 PMWell I guess now I have to clarify what I said last week. There were actually two complaints, one from me and one from a commenter named Zach. My complaint was that I hated it when they assigned a movie that the other person was LIKELY to see anyway. For example, during Anderson’s Flickfession of Prisoners Bryan said “I’m in” which I took to mean “I will be seeing this movie.” Anderson then assigned Prisoners to Bryan. That’s freaking lazy. Zach’s complaint was that when this is done we hear the same movie flickfessed twice in a row. While I do like hearing different opinions on the same film it’s dumb to waste your opportunity to assign a film. The gambling used to be one of my favorite parts of the show but the past few weeks it’s been pointless.

Posted by blackhawk12151 | October 7, 2013, 10:41 AMI agree with both those points. It was always fun when the assignment came out of the blue or had some history behind it (ie. classics Anderson loves and Bryan has never seen, or movies Bryan likes that Anderson was too snobbish to see).
On the topic of gambling I’d like to see some variety with the actual wager too instead of always using RT. Why not guess the box office gross for a new release once in a while? It’s also less prone to cheating which I’ve wondered about at times based on the guesses… I’m sure we could come up with some other ideas too.

universally Known for cheating is innocent, because technically he has never tested positive for anything banned. TECNICALLY, by the letter of the law you are right. But, you’re just using that to your advantage because you know your point is inherrantly wrong. Just because you know you can argue that you never revealed a name while spoiling prisoners does not mean you aren’t spoiling it with those comments. It’s scating by on a technicality and the way you claim people should perceive what you say. You aren’t as smart as you think you Are. Love the show.

The storyline isn’t the strongest, but it is good enough to keep you interested as you’re being sucked into space. Easily the best looking film ever. I kinda feel like if Anderson isn’t “pleasantly surprised” by how good a film is (think Life of Pi), then he has to find a way to shit on it. I do, however, wholeheartedly agree with his assessment of George Clooney being a colossal douche, almost to the point of being distracting. But I never liked Clooney and I went in with the expectation of that’s just how he’s gonna be, and I was right. That being said, Gravity is amazing, and probably needs to seen in 3D. I’m not an advocate of movies in 3D, but this was a visual marvel. A masterpiece.

The technology has been around in major releases for 4 years and yet Anderson has already completely written it off.
You would have thought having Cuaron attached would be enough to earn some leeway, but I guess not. And he wonders why he gets called a hipster.

I know many people have tried explaining this to you before, but maybe one more time will get it through your bald head.
Anyone serious about movies would have already seen Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? The movie came out 2 years ago. There are people out there who were too young to see it then, but are able to now. This is admitedly a dumbed down example, but based on your position everyone “serious about movies” must be able to instantly absorb 75 years of movies by their 12th/14th/16th/18th/etc birthday.
One of the items that distinguishes movies from tv, even in the current age of netflicks and binge watching, is that people are much more likely to revisit old movies than they are tv shows.

Posted by Tyler | October 4, 2013, 4:34 AMThe big problem I have with this line of thinking is that it means there can never be a deep and specific discussion about any movie for fear that someone who hasn’t seen it will be spoiled. When I listen to film discussion or read analysis I don’t want vague generalities. They tell me nothing. I think it should just be accepted that if you bother to tune into any film program like The Film Vault chances are high some movie you haven’t seen will be talked in great detail.

Please, Mr. Bald, you should have a segment of the show where people can tune-out if they like, but you do a deep dive into a specific movie. Once a week, it’s a deep and glorious dive into the meat of an identified movie. Sooooo many times I’ve tuned in to hear discussions about a specific film only to have it basically touched-on. Case in point, I just watched The Great Gatsby and wanted to hear the FVs take, I downloaded an old episode where it was discussed to only hear a very brief discussion. I WANTED MORE!
Like SniffTrax where you identify a film and gut it – maybe its a segment, maybe its a show topic (one film) from time-to-time.
Love the show but could use some deeper dives.

I want to know what movies I should see (without having them ruined a la Prisoners) and also what they thought about movies I have seen. The in depth discussion (spoilers) should be saved for after, giving folks a chance to tune out if they haven’t seen the film yet. Flikfession should be general takeaways that help people decide if they should see something.
