  3. Hey Anderson,
If you’re going to use this podcast to promote the After Disaster then you can go fuck yourself! Seriously, you’re going to talk more about 12 Years A Slave on the After Disaster? Fuck You!

  7. Anderson – couldn’t agree with you more about ‘Gravity’. To me, it’s the equivalent of going to a musical with amazing sets and technological marvels and having them sing Britney Spears. Yes, ‘All Is Lost’ with Robert Redford is the kind of gripping I longed for in ‘Gravity’. They took the easy way out.

Bryan – this was a few episodes ago, but I was so glad you mentioned that horrible line in ‘In a World’. I don’t pretend to know films, but at the end, when that guy said that line – I don’t even remember what he said – but it COMPLETELY took me out of the movie – and I wondered, “What was that????” Thank you for pointing that out, it was a really sour note in an otherwise delightful movie.

You guys are getting sooooo close to increasing the 8%! You’re consistently so much less offensive to women and STILL a great show that one day, I may feel comfortable recommending you to female friends. You heard me. ::sniff::

    Love the show,

    ~gail

P.S. That hoodie ain’t for girls! How dare you.

  8. Can we have Anderson cool it with the “I’m not going to talk about it here. You can go to the After Disaster/Andersoncowan.com.” This is your podcast too and listeners here on the Film Vault would actually like to hear these stories especially when they involve movies. Or we would especially like to hear you talk about the movie you saw instead of saying I saw it and wrote about. Please give the listeners more on the actual show.

  9. Are you guys serious with this Let the Right One In Crap? I just watched it and that movie suuuuuuucks. Is this some kind of artsy pick because its a foreign film? If that exact same movie was in English no one would mention it. It’s awful. Everything about it is slow and boring. Its not scary, creepy, or thrilling in any way shape or form. The characters talk slow, the plot develops slow, everyone walks slow, the music is slow. Its a 2 hour movie where not a whole lot happens.

Rant over. However, the part they mentioned that “made no sense” was completely explained in the movie. vampire goes to the house and walks in without being invited. She starts to have some serious physical effects and the person, seeing this, invites her in. Physical effect over and the vampire is feeling OK again. The scene continues on from there. Its never brought up again because it doesn’t need to be, and the movie thankfully ends 20 minutes later.

  10. Richard Hamilton is a black NBA player, so Bryan was right on technicality about him being “that guy that’s always tan.” He’s just REALLY tan.

  11. Wow, Anderson… massive production failure on The After Disaster yesterday.
Between Tyler’s hideously annoying saliva-swishing “laughter,” his interruptions every three seconds with a 14-year-old’s voice and now inability to even capture Carono’s audio properly, he has become pretty intolerable.
Also, that episode skips so much that by the 49 minute mark it’s literally unlistenable.

It might be time to bring in (glances at Logan)
    SEMI-AAAAASIAN MAN, SEMI-AAAAAAAAAASIAN MAN
They’ve given you a number, (15%) and taken away your name

  15. No Thirst??!! Hand in your hipster credentials Anderson. It’s a great take on the vampire genre from Chan-Wook Park. Beautifully shot with some really great contrasts of colour in scenes and a central love story that is deliciously twisted. Plus Ok-Bin Kim is very, very, very sexy in the film :poundit:

  16. Any time there is a topic Bryan doesn’t like he just complains and says this is a weak topic. Then his list is not good, and blames his shitty list on the topic. I always appreciate how even if Anderson is not a fan of the topic he still finds a way to get excited and have a great list. Much appreciated Anderson!

  17. My God, Bryan – you exhibit that perfect “Californian” perspective of the world. That everyone outside of LA is inferior. I happen to live in Minneapolis, and I know it’s crazy, but I don’t talk slow, move slow, am not fat and don’t drive a pickup truck. Midwest doesn’t equate to backwards and stupid.

We can then assume that living in California you’re a pot-smoking raging liberal, granola eating, tree hugging homosexual?

    • you’re not helping your cause by taking offense at a statement that, in fact, was taking the same viewpoint that you are. his comment was that he was concerned that the movie was going to portray all rural folk as being fat and stupid. he was pleased to find that it did not.

plus bryan is a perfect “san franciscan” and thinks that everything in l.a. is inferior, so 0 for 2.

      • “all rural folk” – another assumption that those in the Midwest are all rural. Not true.

There have been many comments through the years on the show that paints the Midwest as lesser fly over country. If I didn’t understand him correctly this time that is on me – but, I can assure you they have exhibited the typical CA attitude about the rest of the country. Californians always do, it’s part of their wild self-centeredness.

Now, that being said, I do love the show!

      • the dude in the movie is not riding his tractor through chicago.

when you say californians are you referring only to native californians or does it include people that move here from the midwest?
