  1. That TV Vault episode with Logan and Anderson needs to happen for the week where Bryan is gone. I don’t even care if its just casual conversation (not any type of top 5) just the 2 of you talking about some of the fantastic shows we’ve been getting in recent years.

    MAKE IT SO!

  2. Wow, Bryan was exceptionally annoying on this show. Talking over Anderson at every possible opportunity.

    Chill, Bry, just chill………

  3. I feel sorry for Anderson when he makes yet another insufferable comment about Carolla. I get it, Carolla’s a dick…a dick who could have helped Anderson’s career if Anderson understood anything about how the business world works (did it cross Carolla’s mind to employ Anderson on his Newman doc or Road Hard…somehow I doubt it). Of course, this is the same guy who apparently had the amazing fortune of having Steven Speilberg in his film class, yet proudly recounts how he refused to shake Speilberg’s hand at graduation. Keep going Anderson. At least you can rest easy knowing that you’ve never kissed anyone’s ass.

  4. Suggestion for listener top 5 next year. They can only guess the top 5 i.e. Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress & Best original screenplay. Then take the fim/person that has the most votes in each category to make the top 5

  5. Good call by Anderson on “The Apartment”. I only discovered that movie only a year or two go, and now it’s easily one of my favorite movies of all time. Next time BB loses a bet, Anderson should do him a favor and make him watch it, if he hasn’t already seen it.

  7. Anderson has seen all the nominated foreign films sans 1 and has yet to review any except The Hunt. What the fuck are we paying for here – About Last Night????

  8. Wow. I actually agreed with Anderson about something: Groundhog Day is meh.
Another podcast that shall go unnamed (Filmspotting) put the question “which movie would you save from 1993 if every other movie was going to get eliminated?” to a vote. Groundhog Day won OVERWHELMINGLY over Schindler’s List and Jurassic Park, which blew my fucking mind for weeks.
I understand that Filmspotting is broadcast through NPR to Chicagoans, and Bill Murray is Jesus in Chicago.. But holy f–ing shit. I’m not even a major fan of Jurassic Park, but I would vote for it over Groundhog Day anytime, and the fact that it beat Schindler’s List is literally comedic.
Most overrated films ever: Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation, Shawshank Redemption

      • I took a look at your blog & not bad. You’re definitely not crazy & see now what your take is, although I don’t know if a movie is overrated just because it is not on the top of your list but you still think is a good movie. I made a comment on the blog.

    • Shawshank Redemption overrated?! WTF. It is not 1 of the top rated movies on IMDB? I have to know your top 5 of all time to make sure you’re not crazy.

      • I linked to a blog post here that had my top *twenty* ever a couple of weeks ago.
        top 5:
1 Citizen Kane, 2 Lawrence of Arabia, 3 Paths of Glory, 4 Apocalypse Now, 5 Casino
Shawshank is fairly good. It’s nowhere near the classics.

      • Michael P. Gowdy: Your top 5 list sucks. Casino is great but Goodfellas should be rated above it. Citizen Kane is on your list because some professor that had a big influence on your life made you watch it for class once. Prob same for Lawrence of Arabia. Never heard of Paths of Glory (is that like Blades of Glory?). No issue with Apocalypse Now but overall you’re a moron.
Also, Groundhogs Day is a great movie. It is a movie that you can watch over-and-over again. I can’t say the same for Jurasic Park or Schindler’s List.

      • “Citizen Kane is on your list because some professor that had a big influence on your life made you watch it for class once.”

No. I remember exactly why I watched it. Chris Matthews referenced it two shows in a rowwhen I was 19 (a LONG time ago). When I watched it a couple of days later I thought that it was the best film I ever watched, and I had no idea that it was such an historic film. Honestly.

        “overall you’re a moron.”
        *considers the source*….

….aaaand the comment is dismissed from my mind within a few seconds
Now I know what it’s like to be Bryan..
well, minus a brain tumor and plus good looks…

      • Me too! It’s smarter than most American movies and the tone, pace, and subject matter throw casual movie-goers.

  9. I love your show and I think it’s great that you devote a whole episode to the oscars but am I the only one that thinks the Oscars are incredibly predictable now a days anyways? So predicting it, seems kind of..boring? But you guys rock. Keep doing it! 🙂

  10. Harold Ramis was not the dad in “I Love You, Man”, it was “Knocked Up.” You guys make a lot of mistakes for such “experts.”

    • You’re right what we should be listening to is, uh, or, um, well I guess this is “it” (which is hilarious and only mildly alarming by the way and further, by the way Bryan – not to use this as a platform for the other show, but I have no choice – I’m so glad you defended Love, Actually – it just makes me love you more).

  11. Charly & FFA were not good movies to me but possibly because I’ve read the book about 20 times & is one of my favorites. The movies to me missed so much of what made the book so great.
