  1. I seen that film short a few years ago and have been telling everyone I talk movies with about it. Very impressive film. Chilling ending.

  2. Hey Brian. Couldn’t agree with you more regardings About Time. I couldn’t come up with quite the phrase to describe it; I kept saying, “But what’s the conflict? Where’s the resolution?” I like, “What’s the rub?”

Anyway, you’re absolutely right. Thanks for agreeing with me haha!

  4. The host that isn’t brian, PLEASE STOP DOING METH OR COCAINE just before coming into the show. You are obnoxious, loudmouth, and so irriating I had to keep clicking hte 15s+ button so I didn’t have to listen to your drug babblings. You also ruin After Disaster episodes the same way. STAY OFF THE DRUGS! {when doing podcasts, I’m not telling you how to run your life}

  5. Tigerland is a great movie with a making performance by Colin Ferrell, plus an early Clifton Jr performance. Hard to believe the same guy who gave us this & Falling Down made pieces of shit like Batman Forever & Batman & Robin, plus Number 23. Thought Aronofsky, David O Russell, & Eastwood could have made the list.

    • I completely disagree with that take on Ferrell’s performance in Tigerland. I thought he was awful. The scene where he is starts getting teary-eyed over his friends situation (i think they were in a kitchen or something) was so bad! I orginally thought his character must have just been pretending to get emotional, because Ferrell was so fake.

      • I thought his performance was good but did it ruin the movie for you & you don’t think that Tigerland is a good movie?

  7. Anderson spoils “A Day With The Boys” (quite Bryanesque) while recommending it by saying there’s a twist at the end. Once you know there’s a twist, it becomes OBVIOUS WHAT THE TWIST WILL BE!! WHAT ELSE COULD THE TWIST HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN?!?! Ruined the whole thing for me.

  8. A Day with the Boys, was this a short “hippyfied” version of lord of the flies? Looked great, but that’s all I took from it.

  9. Senor Bishop,

Olvidar todos esos blancos mimados culos perezosos que se niegan a honrar al Sr. Biehn, un simple trabajador que apoya a la industria.

  10. Good episode guys except for your opinion on sunshine. To all those who have not seen it or haven’t seen it because of this refrain i have heard from several idiots “the third act sucks” don’t listen.

If you feel this is true as brian and anderson do then you need to see it again. Without spoiling anything you will see the entire movie was heading toward that third act the whole time.

Like any great movie you have to see it more then once to catch everything. Its a very intelligent adult movie that makes to pay attention to every frame and make some connections using your own brain to get it.

    • Just because somebody doesn’t agree with you doesn’t mean they’re stupid, dude. I was hoping they wouldn’t go down that road the whole time I was watching the movie – the first two acts were so intriguing and smart and there was plenty of suspense and danger inherent in the mission already. They didn’t need to go there.

      • ^ agree 100%, and the people with whom I’ve spoken who also watched it say the same thing
I met Chris Evans at the Captain America 2 premiere a couple of days ago. I said, “I loved your performance in ‘Sunshine,’ too. You were awesome.”
He just smiled then pointed at me in a sort of Tom Cruise-like way and said (equally as cocky) “thankyou” (deliberate combination of words there because it sounded that way phonetically).
        ….which was fine.

      • Hey Gowdy, standing out in front of the Chinese theatre taking pictures with homeless guys dressed as cartoon characters does not qualify as “attending the premiere”

      • Well, “Chris,” I never wrote that I “attended the premiere.” I choose my words very carefully.
And if by some 1% chance you are the real Chris Evans, you should know that I wasn’t really insulting you in that description, and I actually think that you are a good actor.

    • I liked the ending of Sunshine okay, but it was a huge stylistic and tonal shift from the rest of the film. I can definitely understand why someone would hate it.

  14. Anderson, I know you don’t read these comments but I have to get something off of my chest. A Day with the Boys may have been the worst thing I’ve seen all year and I just tried watching Pacific Rim. I’m not sure if there’s a generational gap here, but as I was watching it my only reactions were copious amounts of eye rolling and the feeling that if I was 17 in 1973, this would have made my friends and I really think as we toking down a fat doobie. Poor form indeed.

  16. It’s not true that there were a lot of black confederates—that’s a movie invention. The confederates freaked out every time anyone ever proposed allowing armed black soldiers. They only allowed it in March 1865, right before teh war ended.

  18. Hey guys,
You forgot Richard Linklater. Definitely all over the map: School of Rock, The Sunrises, Sets, and Midnights, Waking Life, Dazed and Confused, and that bad movie with Jack Black w/ the southern accent… need we say more?

  19. Before his movies took a serious downturn, Rob Reiner would rule this list. This is how he started:
    This is Spinal Tap
    The Sure Thing
    Stand by Me
    The Princess Bride
    When Harry Met Sally…
    Misery
    A Few Good Men
North (OK, I’ve heard this kinda sucked)
    The American President

And then he started crapping the bed.
