  5. WOW Anderson were you right about Let The Fire Burn. Incredible and maybe because it was seamless and without commentary – is sadly why it was overlooked. Good spot and keep up the great mentions.

  7. If you really like character driven documentaries and you’ve never seen Mr. Death. I strongly recommend it. My favorite documentary by Errol Morris, and wildly underrated. I assign it!

  8. Fruitvale Station IS streaming on Netflix in Canada. Bryan, if you happened to be in Canada last week (as I know you sometimes are), Netflix automatically switches you to the Canadian service. Also, if you do want to see the content from other regions, you can use the Hola Unblocker extension in Chrome. It’s free and works quite well with Netflix

  9. I didn’t love Spectacular Now but thought Short Term 12 was really good. Also not that into Shailene Woodley like everyone else seems to be. She is cute & a good actress but wasn’t blown away in this role. Maybe her new one The Secret In Our Stars will be her big break. She seems poised to become the next It Girl like Jennifer Lawrence before her. At least that is what it seems the media believes. There is another movie called Like Crazy that I was much more impressed with & the lead girl Felicity Jones was much more adorable & had the effect on me that Shailene seems to have on everyone else. Agree with earlier comment about this show being a real retred of others episodes. Seems they are running out of top fives. Still love the show & might be nice if they added a new segment to spice things up like listener weekly comments, insults, or questions.

    • I just saw Felicity Jones in Julie Taymor’s The Tempest and thought she was amazing. If you haven’t seen it, but enjoy her I would recommend it. I’ve had Like Crazy in my queue for awhile and will watch it now that I know she’s in it.

  12. How could Bryan pick Fruitvale Station, a movie that isn’t, nor has it ever been, streaming? Does he have a tumor or something?

  13. Here in Canada, we can’t get either Amazon streaming or Hulu Plus. Also, our Netflix library has less than half of what’s available in the US.

    • I was kind of lukewarm about that movie, but I’ve since (almost lierally) fallen in love with Shailene Woodley. She is just so girl-next-door– like that girl you knew in your early twenties who said “I want to change my last name to your name,” then talked about having kids with you then you said I just want to have one kid and then she said he would be a brat we need to have multiple kids let them play and laugh together but you said “I don’t mean to be Tom Leykis here, but were moving too fast” then she asked “who?” then you said “it’s unimporant” then she just got impatient and you agreed to separate and now that you’re grinding through your thirties you just wish you could have one last moment with her

      ……That Girl.

  15. I agree. Right off the bat they mention that thier lists are full of recent flickfessions. So for regular listeners, what’s the point of this episode?

  17. I don’t mind the concept of these episodes in general, but if you are just pulling from movies you’ve already gone on and on about very recently, what is the point? It felt like they had just talked about every movie on the lists and I already either watched them or had no interest originally.

It would have made more sense to pull some favorites from top 5s or flickfessions from a couple years ago.
