Started nearly a decade ago as a computer-centric, solo bedroom project, Chicago’s Inspector Owl has swelled into an epic, flesh-and-blood six-piece, crafting triumphant blasts of danceable indie-pop. By sharing stages with Maritime, Asobi Seksu, and Margot & The Nuclear So-and-So’s, the band honed their unique approach to songs involving the rise of technology, and how one keeps from losing their mind surrounded by it, all while keeping the overall sound universal and intoxicating. Critics hail their gorgeous hooks and unrestrained energy – some even mentioning drastic swings between The Faint and Coldplay in the same breath – and their debut, self-titled full-length tugs at the heart and the feet with equal measure.
