Other than Sir Daniel Gangs sucked. Costumes overdone like Tombstone and Reilly and Diaz were bad picks.

You mentioned you would like to see The Straight Story. It is David Lynch’s best movie in my opinion because it is nothing like a David Lynch movie. It is VERY slow, but Richard Farnsworth is so great and endearing in the movie. I highly recommend it, despite having the personal belief that David Lynch is one of the most overrated directors ever, and often ruins his movies with stupid endings. I have been burned on so many of his movies, hoping they will be good. Two of his movies I can’t stand so much, that I am actually angry I wasted my time watching them (Eraserhead and Wild At Heart). That being said, I have seen nearly all of his movies, and The Straight Story and The Elephant Man are both very good.

I’m also amazed at the amount of bad movies he’s seen. I’m no film snob, but wow. Still my favorite podcast though, can’t wait for The Postman sniff trax.

so was Dark Knight itself.
Few people ever discuss this point, but Aaron Eckhart could not carry that film. The crazy baton was passed from Ledger to Eckhart at the midpoint; pretty boy fell on his face. Sorry. He and his half-melted, cartoonish face bored the hell out of me to the extent that when they discussed the events that occurred at the end of Dark Knight in Dark Knight Rises I realized that I had forgotten almost everything about its ending.
But the REAL disappointment in Dark Knight Rises– and almost everyone says this, so if you disagree you’re completely wrong– is the utterly ridiculous story about Bane’s origin/stupid plot twist. For one thing, by my calculations (sniff) Bane is at least 50 years old, although the actor who played him is a few years younger than Marion Cotillard. For another thing, it seemed completely absurd– I don’t want to discuss exactly why it’s absurd because I don’t want to spoil anything. Hopefully it’s self explanatory.

I assume that he is referring to (and I’ll abbreviate because I don’t want to get you in trouble) the AL in Sherman Oaks based on the “buying tickets at the refreshment stand” thing and other hints.
Anyway, he said that the sound at that theater is horrible. I’ve watched it twice at the AMC in Burbank, and I can verify that I believe that the sound problem is in the movie itself, not the venue.
It’s especially noticeable when Commissioner Gordon explains why he didn’t expose Harvey Dent as a psycho to

Robin. … kind of important stuff there, Nolan…. ya maybe need to make it intelligible.
