  4. Stop over thinking it Bryan – I miss the constant interruptions and a pissed off Anderson. But as always – thanks for keeping it up.

Other than Sir Daniel Gangs sucked. Costumes overdone like Tombstone and Reilly and Diaz were bad picks.

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid – best ending ever.

  5. Great to hear the show. I was surprised that you had nothing to say about the Aurora shooting. Too hot a topic?

  6. In the reading of the movies bought on Amazon, Anderson flew right past O Brother Where Art Thou?, saying it was ok. OK?…FRIGGIN OK?

  7. The Neighborhood watch movie looks terrible from the previews. How on earth could either of them think it was going to get 60-70% on RT? I would have guessed 25% and been too high.

  8. And Bryan said Ralph Fiennes was in Enemy at the Gates. Twice. I really wish Anderson would get more angry with him sometimes.

  9. Great list Bryan. And I recommend Anderson’s number 5 as well, despite being a tv movie.

You mentioned you would like to see The Straight Story. It is David Lynch’s best movie in my opinion because it is nothing like a David Lynch movie. It is VERY slow, but Richard Farnsworth is so great and endearing in the movie. I highly recommend it, despite having the personal belief that David Lynch is one of the most overrated directors ever, and often ruins his movies with stupid endings. I have been burned on so many of his movies, hoping they will be good. Two of his movies I can’t stand so much, that I am actually angry I wasted my time watching them (Eraserhead and Wild At Heart). That being said, I have seen nearly all of his movies, and The Straight Story and The Elephant Man are both very good.

  12. I am sometimes stunned at some of the movies Bryan hasn’t seen. There have been movies made prior to 1985. I’m also amazed at the amount of bad movies he’s seen. I’m no film snob, but wow. Still my favorite podcast though, can’t wait for The Postman sniff trax.

  16. No mention of the wrestler which was based on Jake “the snake” roberts. I thought that would have been at least an honorable mention.

  19. Dark Knight Rises might have been a victim of Dark Knight, but
    SNIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
    so was Dark Knight itself.
Few people ever discuss this point, but Aaron Eckhart could not carry that film. The crazy baton was passed from Ledger to Eckhart at the midpoint; pretty boy fell on his face. Sorry. He and his half-melted, cartoonish face bored the hell out of me to the extent that when they discussed the events that occurred at the end of Dark Knight in Dark Knight Rises I realized that I had forgotten almost everything about its ending.

But the REAL disappointment in Dark Knight Rises– and almost everyone says this, so if you disagree you’re completely wrong– is the utterly ridiculous story about Bane’s origin/stupid plot twist. For one thing, by my calculations (sniff) Bane is at least 50 years old, although the actor who played him is a few years younger than Marion Cotillard. For another thing, it seemed completely absurd– I don’t want to discuss exactly why it’s absurd because I don’t want to spoil anything. Hopefully it’s self explanatory.

    • One last thing: I noticed that Anderson hinted that he probably saw it at the theater that you guys are always deriding because you don’t want to get sued. I assume that he is referring to (and I’ll abbreviate because I don’t want to get you in trouble) the AL in Sherman Oaks based on the “buying tickets at the refreshment stand” thing and other hints.
Anyway, he said that the sound at that theater is horrible. I’ve watched it twice at the AMC in Burbank, and I can verify that I believe that the sound problem is in the movie itself, not the venue.
It’s especially noticeable when Commissioner Gordon explains why he didn’t expose Harvey Dent as a psycho to
      (spoiler)

Robin. … kind of important stuff there, Nolan…. ya maybe need to make it intelligible.

  20. I usually make it a point to disagree with ACE on all things entertainment, but for the love of God, please stop trying to tell me Drive is anything but a boring self indulgent piece of poo. I expect Anderson to like this, he is a hipster douche. But Brian, please admit this movie is crap.

    • He won’t do it. When it was in theaters they declared that film school teachers would show it in classes for decades to come. Completely erroneous.

      • Drive is great…if you like deadpan delivery of mundane dialog, characters you don’t give a flying fuck about, and Ryan Gosling preceding every line with 45 seconds of awkward silence.

  21. I love this show but sometimes Bryan says the dumbest things. Did he really say he thought the prison was on the outskirts of town?

    Huh?

He thought that there was a prison, full of foreign people speaking a different language, in what is clearly a Middle Eastern climate, on the outskirts of Gotham? A prison that was once controlled by a warlord? On the outskirts of Gotham?

    Wow…

  23. I love how Bryan always chooses light-hearted, fun movies for Anderson to watch, and Andseron selects movies chalk-full of rape, disembowelment and other horrible things. Good stuff.

    My (Obvious) Top 5:
    1. Goodfellas
    2. Apollo 13
    3. Moneyball
    4. Cadillac Records
    5. Passion of the Christ

  24. the biggest problem with the Dark Knight Rises, was that they made Batman a huge emo pus! “ohhh my girlfriend died 8 years ago, oh im so sad”
