To say that FBDO is “about” Cameron is reaching imo; I do agree with Anderson that it is a dramatic subplot to the movie, and nothing more.
Love Faculty!!! And 3 Stooges was shockingly not awful.

Probably the worst episode of TFV ever, and not at all the fault of Anderson or Bryan. First off, she has been on the show before! How do you not know how they do the top 5? It’s pretty self-explanatory that you don’t give away your #1 before the show even starts. Also, she didn’t remember anything about any of her movies, forgetting who the star was of The Outsiders. Finally, I’m pretty sure she managed to mention her podcast while discussing every movie on everyone’s list. I don’t see Bryan plugging TFV on The Adam Carolla Show, and Anderson never discusses his other podcast.
She should stick to a reality TV podcast.

Anderson: Rushmore is quirky, but it’s saved because it is also true-to-life in a way that Tenenbaums, Steve Zissou, Darjeeling are not. I think this because Wes Anderson was pulling so directly from his private school experiences, whereas the other movies were based on nobody’s experiences, ever.
Everyone: Did nobody like Clueless? Did its derivation from Emma make it ineligible?

He seemed to think that all the characters had just graduated from HS but they were actually all rising seniors (Jrs going into Sr year) hazing the incoming Freshman. So it was very much a High School movie.

Posted by Dan | August 17, 2012, 11:27 AMyes! i was frustrated the whole episode because of this mistake. growing up in texas, traditionally the graduating juniors who are going to be seniors immediately go after the newbies. o’bannion is a repeating senior that they poke fun at. they sign zero tolerance contracts for the next football season. most definitely a high school movie.

If you know Ireland, then you’d appreciate the humor and cultural idiosyncrasies of Gleeson’s portrayal of Boyle in the context of a drug smuggling ring/murder case in the rural (and Irish speaking) west coast of the country.
