  1. Heathers is AWESOME!! Love it! Not Another Teen Movie is hilarious.
To say that FBDO is “about” Cameron is reaching imo; I do agree with Anderson that it is a dramatic subplot to the movie, and nothing more.
Love Faculty!!! And 3 Stooges was shockingly not awful.
    Love you Aison!!!

  2. I am normally very entertained by Alison, but she was horrible this episode. Probably the worst episode of TFV ever, and not at all the fault of Anderson or Bryan. First off, she has been on the show before! How do you not know how they do the top 5? It’s pretty self-explanatory that you don’t give away your #1 before the show even starts. Also, she didn’t remember anything about any of her movies, forgetting who the star was of The Outsiders. Finally, I’m pretty sure she managed to mention her podcast while discussing every movie on everyone’s list. I don’t see Bryan plugging TFV on The Adam Carolla Show, and Anderson never discusses his other podcast.

She should stick to a reality TV podcast.

  3. I was so excited to hear Anderson’s offer to Alison of Bryan’s job. Please please take it so I won’t have to listen to more spoilers.

  6. RIP Tony Scott.
I know that “True Romance” was one of Anderson’s all time faves.

  8. Love me some Alison! And I love Bryan’s defense of Not Another Teen Movie, as far as raunchy stupid comedies go, it is leagues apart from others in the category that include: Disaster Movie, Vampires Suck, and Scary Movie 5 coming out next year.

  9. Bald Bryan: How could you profess love for Not Another Teen Movie if you haven’t seen Lucas? What did you think was funny about the football scenes? Thank you for listing Back to the Future, which I was mumbling to myself while listening on my dog-walk, as you guys were running through the Amazon buys.

Anderson: Rushmore is quirky, but it’s saved because it is also true-to-life in a way that Tenenbaums, Steve Zissou, Darjeeling are not. I think this because Wes Anderson was pulling so directly from his private school experiences, whereas the other movies were based on nobody’s experiences, ever.

Everyone: Did nobody like Clueless? Did its derivation from Emma make it ineligible?

    Great episode.

  10. All good lists. Mine would be similarish:

    The Breakfast Club
    Grease
    Heathers
    Dazed & Confused
    Fast Times at Ridgemont High

There are so many good ones it’s hard to choose just five.

  11. Anderson, don’t worry about destroying Bryan’s brain; I’m pretty sure the tumor is already doing that.

  12. Linday Lohan may not be be a good candidate for Carrie due to her persona but it is interesting that Sissy Spacek was also 26 years old when she played the high school student Carrie.

  14. Not finished with the episode yet but so far I’m surprised nobody corrected what Bryan (and Anderson to a point) kept saying about Dazed and Confused. He seemed to think that all the characters had just graduated from HS but they were actually all rising seniors (Jrs going into Sr year) hazing the incoming Freshman. So it was very much a High School movie.

    • yes! i was frustrated the whole episode because of this mistake. growing up in texas, traditionally the graduating juniors who are going to be seniors immediately go after the newbies. o’bannion is a repeating senior that they poke fun at. they sign zero tolerance contracts for the next football season. most definitely a high school movie.

    • Glad someone else mentioned it, Galway to be exact. I think reducing the scope of Gleeson’s character to the ‘rogue cop’ is a bit excessive. If you know Ireland, then you’d appreciate the humor and cultural idiosyncrasies of Gleeson’s portrayal of Boyle in the context of a drug smuggling ring/murder case in the rural (and Irish speaking) west coast of the country.

      • The Gauard is set in Galway?! I studied abroad there for six months and loved that city. That just shot The Guard right up to the top of my Netflix queue.

  16. Logan is on a mission to out-hipster Anderson and I love it.
Bryan will never have to watch Martyrs as Anderson, deep down, is a softie and would never subject poor, delicate Bald to such a horrific movie.
He should make Bryan watch Trash Humpers instead.

  20. What you didn’t get about ‘The Guard’ was that you could never tell if he was really racist or not, or if it was all a supreme wise-ass act he sadistically enjoyed.
